Ts'ehlanyane National Park

Ts'ehlanyane, Lesotho — a rugged highland park in the northern Maloti Mountains, connected by a multi-day trekking route to South Africa's Drakensberg and dotted with rare stands of native Cheche forest.

The Maliba Lodge is the main base, with day hikes to waterfalls and the two-day Mahlasela Pass trek connecting through to Afriski. Ts'ehlanyane protects one of the last patches of indigenous Cheche forest in Lesotho, and horseback trekking with a local Basotho guide — complete with traditional blanket and hat — is a distinctive way to cover the high terrain.
