Jesuit Missions of La Santísima Trinidad

Red sandstone ruins of a 17th-century Jesuit reduction, where Guaraní communities and Jesuit priests built a self-sufficient mission society later broken up by colonial powers.

Trinidad is the best-preserved of Paraguay's Jesuit ruins, with carved stone reliefs still visible on the church facade. Nearby Jesús de Tavarangue has an unfinished church worth the short detour.
