Song-Kol Lake & Yurt Camps

A high alpine lake at 3,000 meters ringed by summer pastures, where nomadic families still move their yurts and herds up from the valleys each June.

Reach the lake by 4x4 or on horseback over mountain passes; stay in a family-run yurt camp for felt-making, fermented mare's milk (kumis), and star-heavy nights. No roads circle the lake — it's horse and foot only.
